OVERVIEW
Dental problems should be dealt with by the patient’s own dental practice. If a patient is not registered with a dental practice, they should call 111 who will find them a dental practice that can see them (they may have to travel out of area).
Unfortunately, GP practices cannot see a patient just because they say they cannot travel to a dentist – they need to contact 111 who can help.
THINGS TO NOTE
Unfortunately, GP practices cannot see a patient for any of the following problems:
- Infection/abcess
- Toothache
- Antibiotics for a dental issue
- Pain relief for a dental issue
- Gum pain
If the patient is experiencing facial swelling, please encourage them to visit A&E.
